GPS Speed sailing

With Speed sailing getting ever popular I’m constantly being asked where, when and how. GPS has made the where and when easy, wherever you like and whenever its windy, that just leaves the how.

Most sailors are using the Garmin 101 or 201 to see how fast they go, but when set-up correctly and uploaded to the website you’ll get a world ranking. The competitive side is just a small part, watching your improvement and just pushing your mates is where the fun is, the web can give you a ranking even for your own beach.

It may take awhile before I finish all these pages so keep coming back and I’ll try and answer some of those questions on how to get you set-up and where to download the free software to clean and review you track.

the defi wind france
If its blasting with your mate your into, then try sailing with screaming along with 700 other windsurfers. The Defi Wind in France is the biggest and best master blaster out there, this track was from our pre race practice and even though we didn’t go the full distance but the GPS shows just how good this beach really is.

Round Mersea Island
8/05/07
sailing round mersea island
I may have started off looking for flat water to save my ankle getting any worse, but my inquisitive side took over and soon had me heading round the back of Mersea Island. This wasn’t the right direction to go round, particularly when it was a beat up the narrow back waters, plus my ankle was stopping me tacking on one side. Once at the road bridge it was just down to reaching home.

Bournemouth to Brighton
7/05/07
Ntuition's Bournemouth to Brighton Blast- What a trip! 26 participants left Bournemouth on a coastal cruise, 9 hours later Guy Cribb, John Skye and Matt Wemms were still standing and limped into Brighton after experiencing 40 knot winds and 107 miles of the UK south coast's roughest conditions. With bleeding hands and feet, and a cracked rib, this was the toughest windsurfing day of their lives.
