Boardwise hold there sea based demo bang in the middle of the west coat of Wales. Borth is an easy drive from around the midlands and worth a visit when windy, nothing happens when its not. Saturday brought mountains of white water, but the strong wind made negotiating then a synch and soon the sea was full of sailors riding and flying off the waves. It was the standard Boardwise evening, so many were nursing headaches in the morning. It was sunny on Sunday, but both wind and temperature had dropped a little, but we still had enough wind for those drunk enough to make bets. see Pix |

When Fabien Vollenweide said he was going to make me a signature board surprised would be an understatement, and stocked doesn't come close. Working with Fabien was easy as he's constantly on the water himself, so understands that a fast board isn't fast without control |

The week kicked off with Bjorn and I giving a pre event clinic on the Friday, Bjorn only had Saturday to sail before leaving to Namibia, but the light wind he had was to dog us for the week apart form Thursday when the wind increased and the sun came to lift peoples spirits. Though short-lived times were posted just under the 30knots and everyone came off the water eager to sign up for next year. I wanted to catch some action so stayed ashore behind the lens for awhile, but once on the water the wind decided it had done its job and left me drifting on a 9.0. Guess you can’t have everything see Pix |

| ClubVass on Speed |
July 06 |
Back in the 90’s ClubVass ran hosted the Vass Class, the UK’s speed slalom highlight, and one that changed the course of my windsurfing for the better. So when Tony asked me to come out for a speed freaks week I could hardly turn him down. It turned out to be one of my best weeks of the year, not only did I meat great people both on and off the water, but I was planning along side my son Reece for the first time. |

| FASTER! – new DVD with Harty |
I can’t believe it but it’s nearly 10 years since Harty and I made ‘Speed with Style’ – a video on how to go faster. Well we’ve done it again – but this time, what a cast! When we were down in Fuerte for the world speed champs, we managed to get EVERY world speed record holder involved. Fininan, Maynard, Bjorn Dunkerbeck, Karin Jaggi, Antoine Albeau reveal all about their set-ups and techniques.
The thing about this one is that we’re NOT just looking at specialist kit and world record stuff. Pete and I spend the whole program using standard freeride boards and sails and concentrate on showing you what you can do to make ANY kit go faster.
Harty’s programs need no introduction. As usual this one is full of fantastically clear demos, insight and humour. He has this knack of sweeping away the bulls*** and making complicated concepts seems straightforward. And in one sequence, the old bastard nearly overtook me – should be worth buying just for that.
FASTER is now at the editing stage and will hopefully be ready for the London Boatshow. You’ll be able to order it via Harty’s website |

A few of my local windsurfing mates joined Ray Page from Quayside windsurfers and the rest of his crew in Egypt. Dahab is Egypt’s windsurfing jewel with many three distinctly different windsurfing areas that caters for almost every windsurfers needs.
With the flight out of the way we had five out of six full planning conditions for more than four hours a day. You only had to see how many turned in early to know the day had been a good one. |
