Home Works Best

With the recent lack of wind I’ve been hitting the road with the mountain bike, but soon as it starts getting addictive the wind starts to show again. Home is perfect for anything from the North East, guess that’s why I ended up on the south coast without my kit where I joined Harty at Worthing Water Sports for an evening at the bar. Think we talked a bit as well.

Working out in the gym has been easier with motivation from a few friends, but now we’ve switched to biking while the weather has been so good. Its easier to keep motivated on the bike even when the guys aren’t around, finding new routes or just finding somewhere to go is the real motivator. Tried to use the bike a few times rather than the phone, trouble is, what takes two minutes turns into two hours.

The forecast kept changing all week, one minute looking positive then dropping to nothing, I was to join Harty at Worthing Water Sports, Mike and Sue had organised a night at the Worthing Yacht Club on Thursday with a demo for the weekend. The wind was looking dire for the weekend so Mike changed the demo weekend to a one-day event.

Soon as I left Essex the phone started to ring, “Walton’s perfect side shore”, typical, doesn’t blow for weeks, and when it does I’m not even there/ To be fair, it was blowing in Worthing, but having taken the car for an easy round trip I had no kit with me.

Being home on Saturday worked out well, the wind continued to blow at Walton, plus being home for our 23rd wedding anniversary kept me in the good books. It was good to see a few others had made it over to Walton, even better to see a few new faces. Could’nt bring myself to stay on the beach to take pictures, just wanted to get out there, had to get a pic of Ray and Rita once we got back, they’ve all ways got a welcoming cuppa ready when we get in.

I was back in Worthing again for Sunday, still no wind, but Aaron my youngest joined me for the day to keep me in order, at least he told me he was in charge. It may not have been windy enough to hit the water, but the tan got topped up.

It looks like the wind should hold for the next couple of days here at home, depending on what website you look at, it could be here all week. Happy days…
