Hardly had time to unpack the bags and Harty had me driving down to fire a few shots off for one of his next pieces for the windsurf, proper back in the day longboard stuff. What a day to do it on, only the best summer sailing of the year. Good and windy as it was, I had my best windsurfing day of the year a few days later.

Timo, Mini George and crew were all heading for east Wittering, everything was looking good for a bit of fun in the waves and having not been able to go out in anything more than chop I could hardly wait. I called in for Harty for a quick cuppa and followed him to the beach, “what the f*** we doing here” I had to ask as we were in some backwater just down the road from Pete’s. “It’s my local, didn’t I say I needed a few pix”. To be fair he had, I just assumed it would be on the see front.

Not that I admitted it to Pete, but the old longboard stuff looks cool again, though better kept to days when the swell isn’t running. I tried to look as bored as possible, it obviously worked as Pete was quickly back in the van heading down the road to meet the others.

Mini George was already and Timo was rigging, so nothing was lost. I was having a ball, but then you start to wonder why you’d ever travel abroad, that is until Mini George clammed it the only decent days sailing he’d had for months. I guess that might be a bit pushing the point, but it hasn’t been the best year ever.

Harty had one more surprise up his sleeve. His learn to loop video is nearing completion and only needed a few more shots so it can be put to bed. The big man behind the lens for all the Harty vids is Dave Hill, an unmistakable figure on the beach, so when he turned up it was all pressure to the backhand.

I’ve got to apologise for the lack of pix, but it was simply too much fun to come in, but what great shots id have if we could down load the vision direct from my eyes. Timo was doing massive push loops right in front of me, obviously I just had to shout across “Timo, they look sic, but try to get some height”, that was like a red rag to a bull. Actually Timo started charging so hard the boy showed he could be a secret speed sailor. as I looked skyward I knew my words had done their work, Timo plummeting from a yet another huge pushy.

Not a bad was to see in Harty’s 51st birthday, but after a quick I had to head home, and repack my bags. I was off to Vassiliki for speed week, last year I took the family for the week, we had such a good time we had to do it all over again, but also a little different.

I’ve been away with too eldest kids Samantha and Reece on our own, so Aaron reckoned it was his time to leave the others behind. So we left the others to follow on in a weeks time. Its been great to have my little man with me, but he does think he’s the boss.

I can’t get my kids out windsufing anywhere but ClubVass, when they’re here it’s a different story. I may have had a great day on the south coast before coming out, but today was better even though I had no chance of getting planning.

Aaron cracked windsurfing today. It’s the first time he’s sailed back and forth, even took a harness and got in the foot straps. Not sure who had the biggest smile, him or me, didn’t actually matter it just seems to be the normal out here in Vassiliki, everyone just keeps smiling.

Got to give a big thanks to Sam Noble, he had my back covered for there demo at the weekend, would have loved to have been there for the Dave Noble returns demo, but can’t be everywhere at once. Thanks Sam
