What a great week, loads of time on the water, even had four days on a 5.8, had I stayed at home that would have been replaced with a 4.7, though the two sessions I had with Timo Mullen and John Skye made the trip worth while. Back home on Sunday the wind was still pumping, but what was Anthony doing on the beach.
The forecast looked stronger at home, but with the direction-moving round to the northwest it didn’t look good for drivenbywind so I took the opportunity to catch up with Skye boy, and Timo. No chance of any pix from Friday, by the time the wind hit Poole the light was already starting to fade, normally a time to be coming off the water not heading out.
We were on the water at Kimmeridge by seven thirty, bit gusty but enough for a 5.8. I came in just to get a few pix from the cliff top, but by the time I got the top John was heading out on the last drop of wind for a one handed back loop.
We waited an hour before de-rigging, John headed home to pack for Cape Verde but just as his car disappeared up the lane the wind started to return, brilliant, another cliff walk. Could have got more pix of Timo, but I wanted to get out there.
It was another early start on Sunday and the 5.8 was the sail of choice again, but the conditions couldn’t have been more different. No sign of a wave anywhere, chop as far as the eye could see, still a decent day out.
We haven’t got many women windsurfers on our beaches so it was good to see Pam out, especially as Niky boy was close behind, he’s got a while to go before his knee will let him back on the water, but it wont stop him manning the camera.
It was all-good for Dave, Shaun and myself, but Pam had a few walks back up the beach, apparently I’ve got to give her some coaching next week to save her legs. But it was Anthony who was having a bad day, somehow he hurt his back, but what was he doing on the beach.
OK, here’s the competition. Anyone guess what Anthony’s official job… I know, so can’t believe Nik got this pic
